Release Notes

This is the first release of the DC20 App! 🎉

The ambition of this release is to put out something in the wild so that you, the community, can see what’s going on. It was hard to pinpoint what would be a good early breakpoint: Only picking your attributes, or ancestry would have been of little help in isolation. So it needed to be a minimal version that catches “all” of character creation.

This release can also provide some value, which is the point of this early access. From what’s available in the app all math should be handled correctly. It’s not terribly hard, but even just creating some DC20 characters have proven that it’s nice to keep score of HP, PD, Skills etc. so that nothing gets forgotten or counted twice.

The app is still in development, and it’s features are limited. But it does absolutely have a value - or used to have before 0.9 we’ll see! Here are some things to keep in mind

The builder will try guide you by indicating choices you need to make and handle any follow up decisions. - Stats Overview: Calculated Character Stats are always visible and can be customised which to show by clicking the button in the top right corner. - Character: Personal information and Meta; for now it’s just setting a name for your character - Attributes: Able to pick your attributes with Point Buy, and pick your Saves. - Class - Able to browse classes and their “book content” (Not all are available at this time) and pick a class. - Able to pick Starting Equipment; and equip it to see it’s impact on defences. - Some classes will display further “Selections” such as spell list and options for features; these “stubs” will be done soon and are visible just to check/confirm the logic. - Ancestry - Able to assemble your Ancestry through picking traits from a smörgåsbord setup with all available Traits. The tool adjusts the points available to you based on the number of ancestries. - You can open the footer/bottom sheet to see and edit your picked traits. It also provides a neat gathering of possible flavour traits to pick. - Proficiencies This is not a phrase used in the Rules; but for this Builder I needed a name for the Section. And “Background” gets weird when you’re progressing and gaining skills etc. - Initial Proficiencies, or what is part of Background in the current rules: - Points between the different proficiencies are tracked and display. - The footer / bottom sheet can be opened up here as well to convert points between Skills, Trades and Languages. - Able to pick Skills, Trades and Languages - Skills and Trades can be clicked to see their description. - Expertise is not in place for all traits etc. yet, but Rogue may pick Skills with expertise.

The aim is to be able to distribute the same app to all popular platforms; and it will be possible in due time. Some releases might be missing one platform for distribution for one reason or another, but the project is based on a foundation that will allow this sooner or later.

We will look into better ways of distributing the app with some proper file hosting etc. But for now it will be hosted in a Google Drive with links.
